Yes, Parents and students should have the opportunity to choose which schools they want to attend. If students are only able to attend schools in their district, they will only have the education that their school is offering. Some schools in other districts offer a better education and enrichment. This causes some students to be at a disadvantage to other students who are being better prepared academically.
The school choice program allows parents to send their students to magnet schools which have enrichment in order to attract students from all districts. This allows the schools to become more diverse.
One disadvantage is that too many students are applying for the magnet schools and there are only few spots for students in each grade. Schools are doing a lottery for students which mean that no particular students are favored and everyone has equal opportunity to enter these schools.
Most families also have a certain religion that they believe in. They will be able to enroll their child in a private school that teaches their religion. This will solve conflict issues in public schools because of different religions.
Parents should be able to choose the school they want their child to attend. By choosing the school they want their child to attend, they are choosing what type of education their child recieves, the religion their school accepts, and the type of enrichment their child recieves.

I Believe that students and there children should have the choice to choose what schools they would like to go to. On page 391, it says that "among parents who send their children to private schools, as many as 95% identify religion as the number one criterion in choosing a school." This would make more parents than children want there kids to go to a more "religious" school. Sill, I do believe that it is up to the child to make up there mind about what school they feel comfortable going to.

Yes, I think parents and students should definately have the choice. When you talk about education, you are talking about a child's future. By forcing them into a mediocre program that only offers classes the student finds no pleasure in taking, then the time has been wasted and the student may give up on studying as a whole. If there is no spark to learn, then the student will find other ways to expend creative energy that could have been put to something positive.
This was the driving focus behind magnet schools; to educate without descrimination against the sending districts. However, the lottery system by which students get accepted to the school, which was it's trademark proof of equal opportunity could also be it's downfall.
Students with driven parents but have no real motivation of their own may be pushed to apply to a magnet school, and if accepted, they only hold back the students that do care. This is also true of sending districts, but a magnet school is suppose to hold its studnets to higher standards, and being a public school, they cannot be expelled unless under extreme circumstances.
It is my personal belief that religion does not belong in school systems, that no matter where you go, a student should recieve the same opportunity to work towards an education that will help them succeed in life doing what they love to do. Schools that specifically base themselves around a belief system are not putting the childs education first.
Students and parents should work through such issues and decide what type of environment would be best for the one that will have to live through it for 7 hours a day. The parent should listen, but be a voice of reason and guide their child towards a future they can look forward to.

I most certainly think that parents should have a say on where their children recieve their education when they are young, and I think that once students are old enough, they should have a say in what school to go to as well.
Some schools work better for some students then other schools would. In some cases private schools, and/or Catholic schools may be a better option then just attending a regular public school. Different parents have different expectations for their kids, and different students have different interests. They must do what is best for them.

yes, paernts should have the choice on which school their child goes to, because lets be honest not all school can meet the needs of a student. this is why the choice program is so food for students that want to go on and beyond in their education.
public school teach students a wide variety of subjects, where as a private or magnet school can get a lot more specific into what it whats to teach its students. this will benifts the students the most, because now they can get the education they need and want. the students are the main reason why charter schools/ magnet school are created. it is is in the students benefit that they can to have an equal educational, in a divers community.
however there are problems to this program, and that is that there are to many children trying to go to charter schools, and there are rules being violated with in the charter schools. even though these two act are being practiced, i still think that it is the parents and students choice to choose the school they want to go to. school they want to go to. if these schools are violating these rules they know they are doing it , and since magnet schools are choice schools, it was the decisions of the parents to put their students in a school that might violate these rules.
i personally believe that eventually choice schools will become a lot more popular then they are already, and all schools will be in the program.

I do beleive that parents and students should be able to choose which schools they want to go to because sometimes the public schools are much worse than the magnet or choice school. By being able to pick which school you want to go to you are giving the student a choice. They can have a good education or a bad education. It is up to them.
Also, in many schools they do not think about religion when it comes to the studies. By picking which school your child goes to you can make it so that they learn more about their religion and their studies at the same time.
