NCLB Simulation Reflection

Reflect on the No Child Left Behind simulation. What are your thoughts on the how the law works? Based on the law, what do you think the people that invented it believe is the purpose of education? What would a conflict theorist or a functionalist theorist say about the law? Refer to at least two presentations to make your case.

I believe that the No Child Left Behind simulation was beneficial in helping us to understand how schools are set up, and what is done with the federal funds. Personally I don't like the law, i feel as if its not helping to improve public school education. That is because teachers have to take away from actual general content learned, and have to gear their teaching towards a standardized test. That takes the creativity this is present in classrooms, due to there being a major focus on test taking. Also, if schools test poorly, their funds shouldn't be cut, because if anything, those schools would need more money, which would be used to provide more resource for students to preform better. Some theorists would believe that the law is needed to make sure that the teachers are functioning correctly, and that the students are learning.
